Idealistic Bug

Not a day passed by without me having to complain to my colleagues about the amount of work I have and the amount of calls I have to take. Everyone seems to find ME for watever SHIT they have. Am i the only guy ard?? It seems like. Maybe I just know too much.. too much for my own good....The burden is getting abit heavy at times and i finally let go how i felt today!

Kinna relieved tat i called for SOS, but at the same time its a double edge sword. U never know how the management thinks! Wild tots goes through my head at times thinking of how others will feel about me asking for help! YES!!!!... im someone who thinks alot .. And these are the little things that can bother me for days... kinna stooppidd.. But thats ME!

Oh well.. nothing much I can do now too since the ppl ard me know that im "max" out, and reinforcement are already on its way too. Shall just njoy the extra pairs of hands im getting into this project and not put too much tots into it! Sometime i really envy the ppl ard me who are simple minded and leading a simple simple life, happy with the income that they get every month. These ppl are happy with watever they have and not bothered about the politics in office. But i know, that not gonna be me... (As joe said im too idealistic in watever plans i have!) Sad.. but true!

Malay Course

Selamat Malam,

Guess wat, I have just started learning the Malay Language as part of my advancement in the SAF. Was supposed to attend it earlier though, which would have done me hell of a good when i was in Indonesia. Wouldnt have to show the "blank" and "huh" look if i could have known what my foreign counterparts wanted! I was relying on graphics and whatever magic i could pull from my trousers in order to get things moving which make Anz an Idiot at times!

Well, learning a new language at such an age issnt easy! Gone are your memory capacity to store the different vocabulary and nouns inside your puny brain and i must admit im feeling the strain too. Well, im taught to understand concepts and mathematics of how things work and learning a language can be quite beyond me. I must admit... IM STRUGGLING!!

However, the malay class is interesting. As it was our first class, the guru was friendly! We were introduced to the Malay cultures and the religious law of ISLAM. It was certainly an eye-opener for me!

Will be looking forward to every tuesday for this class and hopefully come out from this course a better educated person who can speak Malay!

Damn.... I got no one to practise with. How to improve!!

Lesson on life - Selling tomato

A jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.

"You are employed," he said. "Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start"

The man replied, "But I don't have a computer, neither an e-mail."

"I'm sorry", said the HR manager," If you don't have an e-mail, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job."

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10 kg tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with $60. The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go Everyday earlier, and return late Thus, his money doubled or tripled every day. Shortly, he bought a car, then a truck, then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.

5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US. He started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance. He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him his e-mail.

The man replied, "I don't have an e-mail."

The broker answered curiously, "You don't have an e-mail, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e-mail?!!"

The man thought for a while and replied, "Yes, I'd be an office boy at Microsoft!"

Moral of the story:
1) Internet is not the solution to your life.
2) If you don't have Internet, and work hard, you can be a Millionaire.
3) If you see this message, means u missed a chance to be a Millionaire. (You are screwed!!)

Have a great day guyz !!! Keep Smiling and work hard...

Empire of Anz has an empire too!! But not a rich one at all!!

SEXIST

Some ger told me this and its damn funny... so I had to share!

There are 3 differnt types of communication on this planet and they are

1) Tel-evision

2) Tel-ephone

and the most powerful of all:
3) Tell-a woman

haha.... and to make sure (3) works;

Tell her not to tell anyone and im sure the whole world knows.

Oh well... It was a ger whole told me the joke!

Ironic isnt it!

Busy Day = Money saved

Im starting to think if i should thanked God for making my life at work so busy! So busy i am that i hardly had time to spend money while im at work.

I didnt had the chance to take out my wallet today. On my way driving home, i realised that I didnt spend a single cent today while i was at work. The normal brunch was missing today as i was engaged in a meeting at 9am which lasted till 12. This was followed by my boss asking me to join him for lunch at the cookhouse. Oh well... couldnt refuse since he asked, which equate to money saved.

Then the tots of having such a busy routine wasnt bad after all since i get to save. haha... But i must admit it isnt healthy. sigh.... well.. isnt life about pros and cons! Its a matter of how u view it rite?

The day where anz rolls on wheels

Finally.. after 2.5 hours of training, anz is finally able to roll on a pair of blades. The is probably due to the smart coaches i have in corr and joe, although more credits shld go to joe since he was with me all the time!

haha.. A big PAT on my back for such an achievement. It was probably due to joe pushing me from the back that i realise the method to blade. hmmm.. think i kinna addicted liao although my bums hurts now from the multiple falls i had. haha.... A funny incident happened today as a young ger (probably 10 yrs old) was riding a bicycle and failed to brake. the bicycle went right through my legs and bringing me down in the process. I was so scared that i hurt her as she was motionless. My heart probably missed a beat as she was sitting there and her parent came rushing to her. Finally she spoke and apologised to me for bringing me down, but i was kinna scared that something bad will fall upon her too. but luckily she wasnt hurt! thank god. but that fall was definitely painful for me!

Well, me and Joe got our blades today from Queensway this afternoon and immediately scrambled ourselves to East Coast to test drive it! It was marvellous. Though the fear of falling was still in me, and it really didnt take long to scratch my blades as i fell with the first 10 mins. haha.. but it was fun as i started to get used to walking on wheels! Joe was patient and equally afraid that i will fall on him or drag him along with me. haha... sorry pal to make u so traumatised!

cant wait for the next time to walk on wheels again!! anyone interested to join us???

Friday nite fever

Was working till 7pm that day and was thinking of wea to go for dinner and how to spend my fri nite when dino called and asked if im free.

Wow... i tot... Its was like my prayer being answered. So off for steak at our fav steakhouse in OUTBACK. well.. we were offered the same seats as the last time we went. so everything was like so coincidental. Tried something new that nite and ordered a prime rib. Well.. it wasnt as tasty as the sirloin as it was kinna fatty and kinna regretted ordering. But nevertheless it was still good. The funny incident in the restaurant was that we had problems communicating with a particular waiter. Either his ang-moh was too powerful or he is from a foreign land. Both me and Dino cant seem to understand wat the hell he was saying with the slang he has! It was kinna confusing and we eventually gave up trying to understand what he was say and just go on with our orders!

Off to attica after dinner and the place was pretty cool! Ambiance was nice and well decorated. very working class too. Definitely a place to chill out! There are many ang-moh and Indians around in this pub which you hardly see in others. So it was a refreshing place for me. Unexpectedly, both Dino and I met up with an old course mate from our OCS days in attica and we had a good talk about how our lives had evolved since then. It was certainly nice to chat about those old days! So Déjà vu! There was a house DJ from America that nite spinning in attica, which we tot was so average. Nothing to brag about we tot, or it could be bcos i cant appreciate whatever he was doing as i dont see an difference between him and any other local DJs. haha..

Finally went home at 2.40 in the morning. would have stayed longer if i didnt need to go to office this morning. haha.. almost couldnt wake up. Well, wouldnt mind going back there again to club since the ambience is good with a good crowd. anyone interested?

Hehe.. the long awaited weekend is coming! hmm.. wat to do, wat to do.... well, mananged to convinced my colleagues that they should spare me from weekend duties since i have been so hardworking over the weekdays! somehow, i managed to charm them. Hippie.. Guess they feel for me too. sigh.. but who cares, as long as im getting the weekend off!

Hmm.. things i wanna do

1) Get another book to pile up the stack of unread books! haha... well, the reason being: if the unread stack of books get higher, im more motivated to read! reverse phychology.

2) Thinking of getting a pair of blades! haha.. since i going to learn. might as well rite!

3) Pack my room. haha.. it can still be improved to curb the nagging.

4) Watch my DVDs and listen to the music CDs i bought. got a few more to go.

-SO DRIED-

Hmm... I just woke up. Again! Simply too tired after work that i knocked out instantly i got home. This has somehow become a routine since monday when Zzz.zz monster simply set in and i have no control over the attractions of the bed the moment i entered my room. Not that the book isnt interesting and neither is my bed too comfy (cos u shld see the condition of my bed... too messy!), i am completely drained.. sigh....

This is further compounded by the fact that my department head is sick and couldnt come to work. Should have expect that coming since last week, when he was kinna pale. Received a mail from the server saying that i have to cover his duties while he's away. (oh my god!) So this add to the strain in me and i have to run from places to places to complete all the work. In shorted, IM --------------------SSTTRREETTCCHHEEDD--------------------

Well, hope my department head is getting better, else it will be soon that im down too. haha.... This kind of lifestyle (with 2 long meetings of 3 hours each) cant go on! my buttock will crack from the excessive sitting. haha.... just too unhealthy!

Somebody save me!!

5 ppl u met in heaven

Music: John Mayers
Book: "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell
Sports: Nuahing
Mood: Sleepy
Dinner: Home cook food

Finally completed the book on "the 5 ppl you meet in heaven" by Mitch Albom, which had taken me ages to read!

Well, firstly im a slow reader by nature. I can read over a paragraph a few times over and over again just to understand what the author is saying! Some ppl says that this isnt my Engineering textbooks and there isnt a requirement to understand what the hell the author is saying as long as u can understand the story in the end! But somehow, i cant do it! im wired this way and i just feel weird when i cant seem to understand and had to read over a few times just to make sure that i can comprehend wat the hell is going on! WEIRD RITE!!!

Secondly, Im lazy by nature!! haha,... who's not! I procrastinate when it comes to reading.. i read only when i visit the toilet or when im damn bored! haha... which explains why i took almost 2 mths to complete this thin book! But im glad that i have finish it. *another pat on the back*

Well, though im not getting royalties for promoting this book, i shall nevertheless promote this to my frenz! quite an interesting story abt the 5 person Eddie met in heaven when he died (Obvious rite!).. 5 interesting person that Eddie came across when he was alive on earth and how these ppl had changed his path while he was still alive. I probably will give a 8/10 for this book!

Just started on an adventure of another book called "Blink", which talks about trusting your instincts and the power of thinking without thinking. Sounds Chim enough! Well, hope it will be another interesting one!

For the First time

Music: John Mayer - "Heavier Things"
Reading: 204/230 of my book (finishing soon!- horray)
Mood: Fingers hurt after bowling, buttock pain after roller blade-ing
Dinner: Curry Fish-head - Yummy

It was the first time that i blade this afternoon. Quite an experience too! Yeap.. fell down a few time also and was commented by an uncle to keep to the side as it will be safer for me! Well.. all the "malu-ness" that one will expect when u are a newbie!

Blame myself for being so devoted to table tennis and then to bowling when i was in my younger days that i didnt try all these fun sports. Blame it on my frenz who didnt tell me that it can be so fun to blade. well. anyway, though i feel old to be starting now, but im glad i did. After overcoming the initial fear of being mocked and laughed at, i picked up the courage to take my first step on a roller blade. haha.. and as expected, i fell within the first 10 steps, and i heard someone nearby say "wah...." haha...

I must say, roller blading is difficult. definitely harder than when i first picked up tennis and bowling. haha.. I was definitely sweating! (Corr can vouch for that!) Although, i still can't slide on the blades, im happy with my progress today. At least im able to do some form of walking. *pat myself on the back*

Hopefully, i can get to blade often so that i can be like the little kids that i saw today. so good and so graceful... So cute!! haha....

Felt like an Idiot

Never in my life have i felt so cheated! Never!!... Felt so dumb for the first time in my life... Does she has to play such a game? Does gers always play games!! damn...

Joe probaly knew whats going on since i talked to you just now. The more, i thought about it, the lousier i felt!

Shall tell the story for the 3rd time.. (first to Joe and 2nd to my buddy called ghost)

It was supposed to be a dinner between me and lucy (not her real name) on friday's evening. We had agreed to the dinner on wednesday.

So friday came and i was looking forward to dinner. Gave her a sms during lunch to remind her of the dinner, but no reply. (my tots: she's probably busy with her work)

At 5pm, I was really wondering if she still remembers the dinner since she didnt reply or called me. I decided to call her to check if she still remembers!

"Hey, is the dinner still on?" in which she replied "hey, im kinna busy with my work now, might not be able to make it lei".... "Oh thats fine, i still have some work to clear too, i will give u a call later to see if u still want to dine out."

At 7pm, where i finished talking to boss and colleagues and completed my work, i gave another call to lucy.

"Hi, im done! are u?" The reply was, "im sorry, still hard at work. wat about we dine some other day!"... "Sure, take care and see ya!"

Everything seems normal to the you rite. And its perfectly normal to me too. To the naked eye, it just a ger who isnt free to have dinner since she has work to do. UNTIL......

At 7.45pm, I was having dinner myself, that i saw LUCY with another guy! (WTF!). I felt stupid. Why did she has to do this to me???

My tot were:
1. She could have say no to the dinner in the first place...
2. She could have say not to me at 5pm that day, but she didnt

Y must she play me out and only to let me find out that she was toying with me!

Sometimes ignorance is bliss!!

Boring Saturday

Music for the day – SOM OST
Reading – page 175/230 of the 5 ppl you meet in heaven

Having slept late last nite due to the dumb idea of mine to nap at 11pm, I woke up early this morning having heard mummy's voice.

She was busy giving instructions to Dad on the things to get at the supermarket and talking to my brothers about how untidy my room is! (Are all retirees behaving this way?)- Yup, btw, both of them are retired... that y they have the time to complain about how i shld pack my room and asked abt how my life is, which never happened in the past! Something that im not used to and wouldn’t want to too!

My room isnt tat bad! its just that the luggage bag is still unpacked having just got back from Indonesia. My bowling balls are around and my working bag is lying on the floor. Those who have been here can vouch for me that things aren’t as bad as what you think. Maybe woman tends to exaggerate.

Since its a weekend and im not working since as i just got back to Singapore, will probably pop by town later to see if there are any major changes, which i believe not! Was hoping i could get the CD of John Mayers, as recommended by Joe. Couldn’t get it at Sembawang Music store and CD Rama the other day as it was probably sold out. So probably have to drop by HMV to get it later! Seems that i have so much to do during this weekend:

1) Pack my room so tat mum don’t nag
2) Pack my bowling balls so tat mum don’t nag
3) Pack my table so tat mum don’t nag
4) Un-Pack my luggage so tat mum don’t nag
5) Complete my book (Its taking too long)
6) Watch my DVDs
7) Wash my wife
8) Plan the Hall 8 gathering
9) Go bowling

Hmmm... wea shall i start... Since it just started to rain in CCK, item (7) and (9) are out.. that leaves me with (10)...... which is go and take a nap!! hhahaa...

~A bug's nuahing weekend~

Cant fall asleep

Time check. 2.48am on my computer clock and im still typing away. Maybe it was a lousy decision to take a nap at 11pm at nite! Well, i was really intending to take a nap and wake up say 11.30 to check on my mails before i go back to bed. The reason of this being my "kuku" brother was happily playing games on my comp that i have to wait for him. sigh..(So much for being a good brother)

So eventually woke up at 12am in the morning. probably woke up because of the sound around at home. (well, im a damn light sleeper!- probably trained also due to the nature of my work!) and the rest is imaginable... Im still awake!! arrg....

Shall probably blog about what happened to me today! Well. as usual, the work keeps piling and never ending. Got a call early in the morning from boss to get the report sorted out by lunch! (I was like.. oh my GOD... gotta do another superman stun!). So the morning was spend glued to the chair and typing the report for submission. Couldnt get the language flow correct as my "ang moh" not that powerful u see and the tots just couldnt flow out naturally... (Sometimes i wish i had writing flairs like Joe and Amy!).. look at my BLOG and u know y!

The report was eventually done by 1.30 pm and submitted to boss, only to get a call at 2pm saying the format needs to be improved and certain data were obmitted. So i had to improve on it and send it back to him again by 3pm. (My heart sunk, but well, the job has to be done professionally!). The job was finally completed at 3pm.

Well, it Friday and as usual, we stay late in office for a chat with our colleagues. Well, maybe it a God's sigh to me that the topic of discussion today was on relationships!

"Officer A" - Anson, what are you doing today?
Me - Nothing, just staying ard and chat and probably go home after this

"Officer A" - Wah... u no life one huh.. Its a friday... you should go out and party.
Me - haha... I wish i can too... haha... but no one is partying

"Officer A" - Go get yourself a GF, then you will have plenty to do!
Me - MEI REN YAO! haha.... and we both laugh it off

20 mins later.........

BOSS - Anson, no plans tonight?
ME - (thinking to myself... Oh my god, here we go again).. No Sir,

BOSS - Go Clubbing, its still early, get to know more ppl. i want to see some personal development in you!
Me - Yes SIR! Im develping to be a workaholic, like you!...... We both laugh it off!

back home at 9pm... A SMS from Officer B and somehow the conversation developed into one talking abt relationship and how i should get into one!.. (Is that truly a sign!!)

I wonder if boss was setting this up and asking ppl to talk to me abt getting into a relationship. haha... but i dont think my "towkay" will be that free to go into this!! hahha....

Time check: 3.15am...
feeling: still not sleepy...
damn.. wats wrong... but i shall go and lie down and hopefully get to ZZ.zzz....

Good morning once again!

~Wanton Saga~

As i was driving home listening to the latest album of Mariah carey, The Emancipation of Mimi, after my games at victors, there were many tots about my 2 weeks mission in Indonesia, as well as what to look forward to for the rest of the year.

Well, Im relief that im back to the safe city of Singapore and enjoying the beauty and cleanliness of the city as i was driving. Something that you dont get to see for the past 2 weeks. The roads over there were poorly lit and not clearly marked. You have to be "fierce" in order to survived on the road. cos red light actually means "drive with care"!! Horning on the road is also VERY common. well, if you dont do it, u are probably a foreigner in the country!

Hmm.. I do miss the Wanton Mee over there.. something different from ours. The wanton is actually 2 times as big as ours and so tasty. The Wanton Soup also cost us $3 dollars since we are Singaporeans, but very much worth the price. Well, you can see the smile in them when they see us at the roadside food centers, welcoming us to eat at their stalls. "ROBERT is here seems to flash across their face"

We asked the locals, how much they will pay for a bowl of Wanton Mee and guess what!! 7000 Rupiah, as compared to us paying 12500 Rupiah for a similiar bowl. We tried to bargined on our 3rd trip there, and the owner of the joint had the guts to say its only 2.50 sing, VERY Cheap!Well, we had no choice, but to eat! but on a light note, they are indeed tasty and will probably beat any Singapore's food court stalls!

Hope im not making anyone hungry here... haha... but im getting hungry as well too....

Yummy....

~Bug's meal~

Back in Action

Folks,

It happened in a rush that i have got no time to inform anyone, even my family. In a flash that i can hardly believe it myself too. I was activated and flew within 4 hours for another relief mission in Sumatra, in P.Nias. well.... Im back

On that factful day of 29th March, I was happily making courtesy calls to the Indonesian's airforce for the completion of the Tsumani relief operations since they were in town and having lunch with them, when the phone call came. My boss called to say that we are going into Indonesia again as the earthquake of magnitude 8.9 hit them and the town of P.Nias was badly damage and in need of help... I tot to myself "Oh my God" and in the next moment, driving like a Formula 1 driver on the road to home.

Was back in office by 1.45pm, and also explains why i had no time to inform anyone of anything regarding this mission. Well, the rest is imaginable, and it was tough work for the weeks as we had to plan the missions and the humanitarian equipment or stores to ferry across to P.Nias and Telok Dalam. Life was tough, but meaningful as stretched victims were evacuated and brought to the hospitals. Family cried for the lost of their love ones and you do feel fortunate that you live in a country that is affluent and disaster free.

So lets cherrish the love ones we have.

As for me, i indeed got my 2 weeks holiday! 2 weeks tour of Indonesia instead of my America trip... hmmm..... talk abt compromise... haha
