Drummer vs Harmonica... New Vs Old.. who wins after all??

Remember the kid who drums in orchard, with his dad by the side watching? Im sure most of us know who this little fellow is.. the cute little one who is good on the sticks.

Well, as i was walking past orchard today, he was there drumming along, with a huge crowd gathered around him to witness his skills and technique on the drums, with many taking photo/video along the way. The crowd cheers and applause after each song and kindly show their appreciation by donating while he performs. At the comer of my eye, i saw this old man, probably in his late seventies and wearing a singlet, playing on his harmonica along the same stretch of road. He was playing oldies like "ye lai siang" on his old harmonica, which make no sense to most people, and also awaiting for people to contribute some money for his gimmick.

However, there was no one.... Not even a single soul around him listening to what he has in stored.

Deep inside me, i was wondering, why the old man didn’t choose a better location to bask and conduct his business? Was the old man trying to catch the crowd that is watching the drummer and hoped that people would also notice him as well?

Was his hoping that people while watching the cool drummer will also sympathise him and put some money into his small biscuit box as well? (Well, if he was thinking of that, he probably think wrongly, as I didn’t see anyone contributing while I walked past. However, I should reserve my judgment.

Are oldies (be it man or the song) is no longer appreciated? .. Food for thought..
